Abstract
Purpose: Using yellow-tinted lenses prepared for this study and blue light blocking tinted lenses sold on the domestic market, we examined analysis and evaluation methods for the development and performance improvement of tinted blue light blocking lenses.

Methods: The yellow-tinted lenses were prepared with CR-39 lenses and yellow powder dye, the spectral transmittances of lenses were measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer, and the fitting curves related to the tinted time, luminous transmittance and blue light blocking ratio were derived through regression analysis.

Results: The relationships between the tinted time and luminous transmittance, the tinted time and blue light blocking ratio, and the blue light blocking ratio and luminous transmittance were well fitted with the double exponential decay curve. Using the fitting curves calculated the tinted time, luminous transmittance, and blue light blocking ratio required to produce the blue light blocking lenses intended to be targeted. In addition, using the RBL-¥ó chart quickly and easily compared the blue light blocking ratio and luminous transmittance determining the performance of the Blue light blocking lens.

Conclusions: We suggest that the fitting curves and RBL-¥ó chart related to the tinted time, luminous transmittance, and blue light blocking ratio can be usefully utilized in estimating the performance of the blue light blocking lens and expect them to be widely available.
